Prosthetics & Orthotics Stockinette

Consistent nylon stockinette liners for residual limb interfaces. Patient comfort depends on uniformity — we deliver it at ±3% tolerance.

Short answer

In prosthetics and orthotics (P&O), tubular stockinette serves as the interface layer between the patient's residual limb and the prosthetic socket. This layer must be consistent, durable, and hygienic — it is worn daily and subject to regular washing. We supply P&O practitioners and distributors with nylon, perlon, and cotton tubular stockinette across the full clinical size range.

Why Nylon for P&O Applications

RequirementHow Nylon Delivers
Daily-wear durabilityNylon maintains shape after hundreds of uses
Hygiene / WashabilityMachine washable — cotton degrades with washing
Consistent width±3% diameter tolerance across all rolls
Skin compatibilityLatex-free, suitable for most skin types
Smooth socket fitNon-splicing construction — no pressure points
Selection guidance

Choose nylon for the daily-wear residual-limb liner in most P&O programs. Choose cotton for short-term or temporary use. If you need a stretchier nylon-family option for testing, compare the material guide and request a sample before ordering in volume.

Prosthetics & Orthotics Stockinette FAQ

Nylon tubular stockinette is the primary recommendation for prosthetics. It serves as the interface layer between the residual limb and the prosthetic socket. Nylon is preferred because it is durable, machine-washable, and maintains its shape after daily use — unlike cotton which degrades with repeated washing.
In P&O, the patient's comfort depends entirely on a consistent interface layer. A stockinette with variable width or irregular knit creates pressure points that can cause skin breakdown on the residual limb. Our ±3% diameter tolerance ensures the same consistent fit across every roll and every order.
Common P&O sizes: transradial (forearm) residual limb: 6–10 cm; transtibial (below-knee) residual limb: 10–15 cm; transfemoral (above-knee) residual limb: 12–18 cm. We also supply custom sizes for non-standard residual limbs.
