Stockinette HS Code Guide

Which HS heading fits stockinette, tubular bandage, mutton cloth and stockinette bags, explained by product form for importers.

Short answer

There is no single HS code for stockinette. The heading depends on how the product is packed and sold: 6307.90 for bulk stockinette and bags for professional use, 3005.90 for stockinette or tubular bandage packed for retail sale for medical use, and 6307.10 for mutton cloth sold as cleaning cloth. Tahir Collection ships its standard stockinette under 6307.90. Your customs broker confirms the final code.

How to Use This Guide

  • The first six digits are international (HS). Each country adds its own digits: the US HTS uses 10, the EU Combined Nomenclature 8 and India's HSN 8.
  • Packing matters. The same roll can move from 6307.90 to 3005.90 when it is boxed and labelled for retail medical use.
  • Duty rates and trade preferences (such as EU GSP+ for goods of Pakistani origin) depend on the final code and the origin documents.
  • Send your broker the product specification, the packing description and a photo of the retail pack, if there is one.
What we put on our documents

Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin show the HS code we ship under, the fibre content, the lay-flat width and the packing. If your broker wants a different code for your market, tell us before shipment and we will align the documents.

Stockinette HS Code FAQ

It depends on how the stockinette is packed and sold. Stockinette shipped in bulk rolls or cut lengths for professional use is commonly declared under 6307.90 (other made-up textile articles); Tahir Collection ships its standard stockinette under 6307.90. Stockinette packed for retail sale for medical use is usually classified under 3005.90.
Cotton does not change the heading: the same rules apply as for any stockinette. Bulk cotton stockinette for professional use is commonly declared under 6307.90, and retail-packed medical cotton stockinette under 3005.90. If it is traded as plain knitted fabric, chapter 60 (for example 6006.21–6006.24 for cotton) may apply.
Tubular bandage packed for retail sale for medical purposes is usually classified under 3005.90. Non-retail tubular bandage is commonly declared under 6307.90. Knitted fabric containing 5% or more elastomeric yarn, traded as fabric, falls under 6002 or 6004.
Mutton cloth sold as a cleaning or polishing cloth is generally classified under 6307.10 (floor-cloths, dish-cloths, dusters and similar cleaning cloths). The national subheading differs: for example, the EU uses 6307 10 10 for knitted cleaning cloths, and the US uses 6307.10.10 for cotton polishing cloths.
India's HSN codes are built on the same 6-digit HS headings, so the same logic applies: 3005.90 for retail-packed medical stockinette, 6307.90 for other made-up stockinette and 6307.10 for mutton cloth. The 8-digit HSN line and the GST rate are set by Indian customs; confirm both with your broker.
The importer, through its customs broker, is responsible for the classification used on entry. We put our HS code on the commercial invoice and packing list, and we can describe the product form and packing in detail to help your broker decide.
